Comparison of various temporal air traffic flow management models in critical scenarios

چکیده

Overloads (i.e., critical imbalances between traffic demand and capacity) are currently resolved in the European air transportation network by activating flow management regulations. Flights subject to regulations delayed on ground computer assisted slot allocation system, which uses a first-planned, first-served principle allocate delays. In last decades, many researchers have proposed alternative models based more or less complex optimisation techniques, could effectively resolve overloads with delay. Despite fact that these were very promising, changing current operational system procedures - trust is supported successful working history dating back 1995–may not be realistic short term. This paper examines gradual transition from futuristic model flights assigned delays massive cherry-picking measures minimise total delay network, without necessarily adhering rule. A reference greedy representative of operations compared where Network Manager optimises using hyper-heuristics, measures, hybrid consider major only for residual overloads. These scenarios capacity issues caused adverse weather conditions. Results suggest viable option reducing minor changes paradigm.

Comparison of Linear Dynamic Models for Air Traffic Flow Management

Traditionally, models used in air traffic flow management are based on simulating the trajectories of individual aircraft. While practical, this approach does not offer any insights into the dynamics of the traffic flow. Recently, two different approaches, (1) aggregate traffic model approach and (2) Eulerian model approach, have been presented to generate linear dynamic models that represent t...

Mathematical Optimizationg models for Air Traffic Flow Management: A review

Congestion problems are becoming increasingly acute in many European and American airports and air sectors. To protect Air Traffic Control (ATC) from overload a planning activity called Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) tries to anticipate and prevent overload and limit resulting delays. When the traffic expects to exceed the airport arrival and departure capacities or the airsector capacity a...

Comparison of the performance of four Eulerian network flow models for strategic air traffic management

Four Eulerian network models are implemented to model high altitude air traffic flow. Three of the models use the framework of discrete time dynamical systems, while the fourth consists of a network of partial differential equations. The construction of these models is done using one year of air traffic data. The four models are applied to high altitude traffic for six Air Route Traffic Control...
